ODMF, a Community Like None Other

Open Doors for Multicultural Families (ODMF) is a groundbreaking organization that works at the intersection of disability support, cultural understanding, and community empowerment. We are the go to organization that focuses on supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) from multicultural backgrounds, providing services that span their entire lifespan. From children to adults, ODMF is committed to ensuring that individuals with IDD and their families, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, can access the resources and support they need to thrive.

Founded in 2009 by Ginger Kwan and a passionate group of parents, professionals, and community leaders, ODMF began with a simple but powerful mission: to bridge the gap between families from diverse backgrounds and the often-complicated systems of support they needed to navigate. Our unique cultural brokerage model has allowed us to connect families with critical services, while overcoming barriers.

Since our founding, the need for our work has only grown. As communities across King and Pierce Counties continue to face the intersecting challenges of ableism and racism, we’ve expanded our reach to ensure that multicultural families are not left behind. Whether it’s through our case management services, specialized programming, or advocacy, ODMF has become a vital resource for families who are often underserved or overlooked.
