Did you know that Open Doors for Multicultural Families is the go to organization in Western Washington to support  all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families regardless of cultural or linguistic backgrounds across their entire lifespan?

There are many ways for you to get involved: donate, volunteer, advocate, or partner with us to create meaningful change. Your support sustains critical programs that provide systems navigation, inclusive education, employment opportunities, and lifelong advocacy. Every contribution—whether financial, time, or awareness—helps break down barriers and build a more equitable future.

I’m truly grateful to be a part of the Open Doors community. They have supported me in many meaningful ways, including helping me prepare for my son’s IEP meetings, providing the resources I requested, and inviting me to participate in the Open Doors for Multicultural Families (ODMF) Parent Support Group (PSG) and Community Café events. “They said I wouldn’t make it. But I did.” For most of my life, I was underestimated. Teachers told me I’d never succeed, never go to college. With the support of programs like Kickstart, P2G, and the Lead Collective, I found my purpose and my people. They didn’t just see potential in me, they helped me see it in myself.

Today, I’m a high school graduate, enrolled at Highline College, and working toward my dream of transferring to the University of Washington. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and I know this is only the beginning.
