What We Do

At Open Doors for Multicultural Families (ODMF), we transform the way disability services intersect with culture, race, and inclusion. As a pioneering organization, we work at the center of ableism and racism to build accessible, culturally responsive systems that empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.

They have supported me in many meaningful ways, including helping me prepare for my son’s IEP meetings, providing the resources I requested, and inviting me to participate in the Open Doors for Multicultural Families (ODMF) Parent Support Group (PSG) and Community Café events. Their support has made a real difference in my journey as a parent

“They said I wouldn’t make it. But I did.” For most of my life, I was underestimated. Teachers told me I’d never succeed, never go to college. With the support of programs like Kickstart, P2G, and the Lead Collective, I found my purpose and my people. They didn’t just see potential in me, they helped me see it in myself.

Today, I’m a high school graduate, enrolled at Highline College, and working toward my dream of transferring to the University of Washington. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and I know this is only the beginning.
