Legislative Action Alert: Support Funding for The Family Resource Center!

Open Doors for Multicultural Families is asking for state funding to build the Family Resource Center—the heart of the Kent Multicultural Village, a first-of-its-kind community hub for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities from diverse backgrounds.

The Family Resource Center will be a lifeline for families, providing:

• Personalized, language-accessible support to navigate disability services
• Inclusive programs that promote independence, learning, and well-being
• A safe space where individuals with IDD and their families can find connection and long-term support

The Family Resource Center will part of the Kent Multicultural Village which offers:

• Affordable housing for families, including those with IDD
• An Early Learning Center for children with and without disabilities
• Accessible transportation to grocery stores, healthcare clinics, and essential services

More than just a place to live, the Multicultural Village will be a place where people feel a sense of belonging— in the words of our Executive Director, Ginger Kwan,
