Connecting a Family to Critical Services

Our Arabic and Kurdish speaking Family Support Specialist, Qaydar Ali, helped a family new to Washington state settle-in to life here.

The mother and daughter, originally from Iraq, were living in Michigan, but decided to move to Washington state because they have a trusted friend who lives in Kent who thought that Open Doors could help them. The friend welcomed them to Kent and helped them get situated.

In the meantime, Qaydar Ali connected them to no-cost health insurance, a psychological evaluation for the daughter, Developmental Disabilities Administration services, assistive technology via the TED program, and helped register the daughter for school.
