Family Leadership Training

This is the only leadership training program in the nation designed by and for multicultural parents and family members who have loved one with disabilities. Participants learn about systems, policies, and strategies for breaking down barriers to help their loved ones live happy and healthy lives.

For multicultural families of loved ones with disabilities. Families learn and apply skills and strategies for advocating for systems and policy change.

Who is this program for?

  • Multicultural parents and loved ones of people with disabilities
  • Currently, participants must be able to receive instruction in English
  • Priority is given to King County residents. Applications outside of King County and out-of-state reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

What can you expect from Family Leadership Training?

Held once a year, usually in late summer or fall. Stipends and technical assistance available to reduce barriers for participation. Participants will receive ongoing coaching and civic engagement opportunities to apply the strategies that they learned to effect systems change. Our graduates have been instrumental in passing state-wide policy change for Language Access in schools.

Our Family Leaders showed us the power of their voices during a recent trip to Olympia. Family Leaders took time out of their busy schedules to join us for two days to meet with Legislators, and when they spoke, Legislators listened.
