The Multicultural Village (MCV) will be an inclusive community designed with and for people with disabilities and their families. Too often, these families struggle to find accessible, culturally responsive spaces where they feel truly at home. MCV addresses this gap by creating a welcoming, multi-generational neighborhood built on connection, support, and the value of diversity.

Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center (FRC) will unite all of ODMF’s services under one roof, ensuring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families receive comprehensive, culturally and linguistically responsive support. This inclusive space is designed so every family feels understood, valued, and connected. Through expanded programs and dedicated care, the FRC will reduce isolation, break down barriers, and foster a stronger, more vibrant community.

Inside, families will find intentional spaces that inspire learning, creativity, and belonging: an Assistive Technology Lab for independence tools, Movement & Music Room for therapy and expression, Multimedia Studio for storytelling and advocacy, Teen Community Space, Art Studio, Sensory Room, and a Prayer Room honoring diverse spiritual practices. A Commercial Kitchen will host cultural cooking, community meals, and entrepreneurial opportunities. With these amenities, ODMF anticipates serving over 2,000 families annually, approximately 4,200 individuals, up from 1,200 today, while creating 20–30 new permanent jobs, including roles for people with disabilities. The FRC will be a place where families thrive, professionals grow, and community comes together.

Early Learning Center

The Early Learning Center will transform early education in South King County, a region where childcare options are limited. This innovative center will serve up to 120 children ages 3–5, with and without disabilities, offering high-quality, culturally responsive learning experiences. With six classrooms, a universally designed accessible playground, and a multidisciplinary team of specialists, the center will provide ECEAP slots for families in need and create workforce development opportunities through internships and partnerships with local colleges.

Affordable and Accessible Housing

To address the critical housing shortage for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and families in South King County, the Multicultural Village (MCV) will create 233 new affordable, accessible apartments, a transformative step toward equity and inclusion. Over half of these homes will feature two or more bedrooms, including rare four-bedroom units, helping to fill the severe gap in family-sized affordable housing. With rents set between 30% and 60% of Area Median Income (AMI), these apartments will ensure that individuals and families can remain in the communities they call home, close to transit and essential services, without fear of displacement. Importantly, 20% of units (47 homes) will be reserved for individuals and households that include a family member with an intellectual or developmental disability, creating a safe and supportive environment for those who need it most.

But the MCV is more than housing, it’s a vibrant, intentional community. Each floor will feature thoughtfully designed gathering spaces where neighbors can connect, share meals, and build relationships. These spaces will foster inclusion and belonging, reducing isolation and creating opportunities for mutual support among families and individuals with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
